Cheap Beer Challenge

Cheap Beer Challenge
2/25/11

We had the first cheap beer challenge and the victor (pictured below) won a 22.5 oz of Maredsous Tripel.

The Champion
There was a tense three way tie for first between Drew, Roque, and Brent (each scoring an not-very-intimidating 2/6 on the cheap beer challenge score cards)  They decided to settle their tie with a chug-off...

The finalists

Here is a little more of the set up (pictured below).  There were eight options and six beers to taste from including Schlitz (not pictured). A general consensus from a blind taste test rendered all beers nigh indistinguishable except for Imperial, which was unanimously the most disgusting beer available beating out heavy favorites PRB and Schlitz.

Unanimous Worst Beer
Finally, as an surprise but welcome bonus Brent and Matt brought over some Convict Hill and Billy's Chilies, and Drew came through with two homebrews to share (the IPA he made was out. of. this. world. and is sadly not available in stores)

Rules:

1)      Each participant shall bring at least a six pack of one of six agreed upon 'cheap' beers. NOTE: participants can bring additional non list beers if they wish, but those beers may not be included in the Cheap Beer Challenge.

2)      Each participant will taste each beer in a glass from each pitcher (labeled by a letter).

3)      There will be a list posted of the potential answers.  For fun there will be one more choice than number of pitchers.

4)      The participant shall then, on a card provided, make guesses as to the identity of each cheap beer.

5)      Each participant shall also identify which beer he thinks is the 'best' and which beer he thinks is the 'worst'

6)      The winner (the one with the most accurate score card*) shall receive a prize (most likely pint glasses) at the conclusion of the Cheap Beer Challenge.

*In the event of a tie, the parties involved will play a mutually agreed upon drinking game to break the tie.  Winner of that game will receive the prize.
